Governor Vows to Empower Women in Agriculture for Food Security
On August 21st, 2024, Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State commended the increasing involvement of women in agriculture, emphasizing it as a key solution to Nigeria’s food insecurity. Deputy Governor Manassah Daniel Jatau representing the governor reiterated the state’s commitment to prioritizing agriculture for job creation, food sufficiency, and socio-economic development. He encouraged women to engage in irrigation farming and participate in initiatives like the Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones and the Cassava farming program. The Nigeria Women for Agricultural Progressive Development Initiative (NWAPDI) seeks collaboration with the state to further empower women across the agricultural value chain, aiming to end food insecurity and create more jobs.
